the Whale team is delighted to announce they have been awarded a coveted Segeln Award at Boot Düsseldorf, International Boat Show.Today, Whale have been honoured at the 5th annual Segeln awards ceremony, in the reader nominated Electronics and Electrical category. The winning product was the Whale Bilge IC, a cutting edge innovation in marine bilge water management. The prewired system has integrated intelligent control sensor technology that enables communication between the pump and accessory and instead of four separate components, the Bilge IC is one complete system.
A main factor in the success of Bilge IC is the remote mount design allowing the pump to be remote mounted up to 4 metres away from the bilge area. This allows easy access for inspection and maintenance. The Intelligent Control sensor technology then allows communication between the Gulper® IC pump and Strainer IC automatically monitoring bilge water levels. The Gulper® IC and Strainer IC are also connected by pre-wired waterproof electric connectors that prevent damage from capillary action and electrolysis.
Bilge IC was launched in 2010 as part of a range of products to break the mould in the marine industry. This range enabled boat builders and end users to install one completely prewired kit into their vessel rather than individual components, therefore making it easier in the installation and maintenance process. Whale worked with numerous boat builders to perfect the long pump life and design, always keeping the boater in mind for simple installation and an all-round better boating experience.
In 2010, the IC range of products was recognised at the DAME awards at METS and also Gulley IC was awarded the IBEX award. The IC range is fitted by boat builders around the world and Whale is continuing to increase the range with the introduction of the high capacity Orca Auto 1300 electric submersible pump in quarter 1, 2012.
